The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. Psalm 23

You do not need to do because you lack nothing. You cannot persuade God by doing stuff to love you more, that you are worth his love, that your value is increased – He cannot possibly love you any more.

It is in those times of lying down, those still waters that a miracle will occur. You will come to know the truth about God’s unconditional love. Do I know this love in its fullness? – no I don‚Äôt , but I am hungry for more and open to learn where I am telling myself lies, or hiding hurts.

As a child I was born with a severe skin condition. My skin was sore, itchy, uncomfortable and the sores often got infected.¬† This meant my memories of childhood are full of sadness. I was called names at school – such as carrot peelings, I was picked on by teachers, I had trouble adapting as a teenager as my appearance was not beautiful and wherever I was I felt uncomfortable and embarrassed for looking like I did. God healed my skin 4/5 years ago – but inside I have a greater journey to go on. The affects of withdrawing, being picked on, feeling ashamed and rejecting myself is taking a while to work through. It is in the times of waiting before God that he shows me who I am, what I have taken on that isn’t of him, what he thinks of me, what memories still affect me today and much more.

I must admit that I was skeptical of all this heart healing stuff. Though it was for the softies, or perhaps the flaky Christians Рbut God has shown me how essential it is to my life in order for me to be saved Рfully whole inside and out. How can I be ready to hold the presence of God in its fullness in revival if I am tender and cracked. We need to be vessels ready for Him. I want to know him more.

Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Ephesians 3:17-19 (NLT)

Elephants don’t forget

I am not suggesting we should all become like elephants – but they never forget!!

At the moment you read this I will be on an adventure to the Philippines. I am going to keep on writing to catch up with all that God has placed on my heart to share. I want you to continue the journey as I am on mine ūüôā

If I can I will add extra blogs into the ones I have written for each day. You will have to excuse any typos or communication bumbles as I have had to write them up in advance.

We have already seen that Psalms 78 is a poetical version of the children of Israel’s adventure. Psalms 78:42-55 is all about the lack of the people of God to remember all God had done for them.¬† Asaph lists of things God had done and that¬† the people had forgotten. They forgot about their freedom from slavery, the plagues, the crossing the red sea and all the mighty miracles God performed.

I have been challenged recently by God  to write down all the healings I have seen. I was shocked as I started to write  how many I had forgotton about and how many I could recall. I am excited that I God is moving so powerfully in our generation that healings are becoming more and more common. I have now been challenged to write all the people I have seen change, all the times God has provided what I needed and all the outstanding prophecies that I have heard. This is still a job in process.

I would like to share one from last year. On my first trip to the Philippines. The leader of the church had a large gall stone and the hospital was loosing hope that it would move. A friend on mine had just ‘passed’ a small one and told me of the excruciating pain it caused him for days. He promptly showed it me in a glass bottle (LOL). Anyway back to the story. My Philipino friend, a mighty man of God, knew that it was going to cost over ¬£500 for the lazer treatment the hospital were now advising him to have. I laid hands on him and prayed and on his next trip to the specialist the week later they were surprised as they couldn’t find anything. He was surprised as he hadn’t felt anything. They insisted on checking him again to make sure!!

Self made rainbow, made in home garden.

The other story I love from the Philippines is the word from God the group were given before we left. We were told that ” As you sing a rainbow will appear over your heads. As people walk through the rainbow their heaviness will go and their lives will be full of colour.” On the first Sunday the group sang together in front of the congregation and one of the older men came up to me afterwards to speak to me. He told me that as we were singing he saw a rainbow appear over the whole group. He knew nothing of the word given to us back in England.

God is good. He is faithful

Today: List all the times God has been faithful to you. All the times you have seen a miracle, provision or fulfilment of a word. These are your stories that will be a springboard of faith to greater things.

Starfish survival

In our life group this week Naomi brought this video to my attention . She said

it reminded her of what God is talking to us as children of God. We make mistakes and then want to hold on to things. We want to do what we think is best and we won’t let go. ¬†We hold onto all the pain, unforgiveness, anger, fear and grief. All we need to do is let go, lie still, face up to heaven and call out to daddy. Just like the children learning new skills in the video we need to learn to rest in God’s love, breathing and surrendering ourselves without a struggle. We may not understand how strong his love is, or how we will stay afloat but we can trust the one who teaches us to the way to be still.

No longer striving to do, but resting in being loved.

Forgiveness 3

I don’t want us to brush past this important part of the journey. We need to take some active steps to deal with unforgiveness¬† before we move on. This is not a one off act but we will need to deal with it again when it crops up in the future. We are always learning how to forgive others.

Forgiving someone has to be act of the will. Quite often the person you must forgive may already be dead. These people are often the most difficult to forgive, but are the most important. There may be people from situations in your life which you may feel are impossible to forgive, or ones that you simply refuse to forgive, or even ones that you say you just cannot forgive since they have caused you such deep pain. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring you to a place where you are enabled to make the choice to forgive. He will reveal to you all the people and situations which make forgiveness necessary.

Today : Sit down and take your time doing this exercise. With each of the names written down in your travel log pray through this prayer. It might help to visual the person in the room sat in front of you as you pray.

‚Äú —(insert the name)—- I forgive you for all you have done to me. I release you to the grace of God.¬† I break agreement with bitterness¬† dwelling in me. I now breathe in your love and forgiveness God‚ÄĚ

After you have let go sit down and refresh yourself in God’s presence. Perhaps listen to some music, or just wait quietly.

For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:14-15

Forgiveness is a choice and vital to our relationship with God. Unforgiveness determines intimacy with our Father and feeds rejection. Harbouring any unforgiveness or unconfessed sins will definitely hinder our spiritual growth and communication with God.

Unforgiveness can be detrimental to our physical and spiritual wellbeing. It can manifest itself as depression, anger, hatred, resentment and bitterness etc. It can cause physical ailments, all of which rob us of peace and joy.

We need to invite the Holy Spirit to remove weeds form the garden of our hearts. We can ask him to search our hearts as David did in Psalms 139 and He will look for any hurt, wounds or pain that the enemy would seek to exploit through unforgiveness. We must not do our own digging. It is important to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal:

1.        Any unconfessed sin

2.        Any unforgiveness of others

3.        Any unforgiveness of self

4.        Any ungoldly beliefs (lies you have believed)

It is helpful to make a list of all the people and situations that have ever caused you

Hurt, Pain, Fear, Resentment, Jealously, Shame, Rejection, Loneliness, Anger, Guilt, Dishonour

Don’t forget to put you own name and God’s name at the top of the list. This is very important!

Unforgiveness is a doorway for Satan to come in , gain a foothold and take control in certain areas of your life, and even the lives of family members. Forgiveness closes the doorways to the enemy which is vital before the house or temple can be cleansed and filled with the Holy Spirit.

Today: Spend some time with God and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you any body in your life who needs forgiving. This includes forgiving God or yourself. We will look at what to pray in more detail tommorrow
